Hi, I’m Kristen.
I am a professional nature photographer currently based in New England. I had an interest in art from a young age but over time developed a passion for photography and the experiences I enjoyed while exploring with my camera. What started out as the occasional scenic photo shot on the family film camera eventually became a more dedicated discipline in college when I chose to major in photography. At that point I made the switch to digital and enjoyed shooting casually for a few years while taking the time to grow my family. In 2017, I began traveling more often for the purpose of photography and moved to a Nikon D810. I’ve since upgraded to a Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera with a variety of lenses.
In my work, I focus heavily on the shapes and spatial relationships within a landscape. Using the natural contrast and fine details in a scene, I position together areas of interest until the story of location comes to life. Favorite subjects for me include national parks, coastal areas, and mountains. I use on-camera filters from Lee Filters to harness various elements in the scene and produce images that capture the sensations and moods I felt while shooting. When printed, my collectors described the finished works as serene, powerful, and richly textural pieces that captivate the viewer.
